FAIRFAX CITY, VA — In India, Basant Panchami is a celebration of spring’s arrival. The holiday also honors Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge.
To mark these two Indian traditions, Bollywood Bistro, the Fairfax City restaurant specializing in contemporary Indian cuisine, will be offering a cooking class from 7-9 p.m., on Jan. 26.
Participants are encouraged to honor the Basant Panchami tradition of wearing yellow clothing, as Executive Chef Sunil Bastola teaches them how to prepare golden vegetarian dishes, such malai kofta.
Once the cooking class is finished, participants will enjoy a family-style dinner, which will include an array of amber-colored dishes and wine pairings.
Tickets for the cooking class are $75 per person. For more information, call 703-273-0031. Bollywood Bistro is located at 3955 Chain Bridge Road in Old Town Plaza.
