His routine is fit for a viking.
FOR HIS MOST recent role in
Vikings: Valhalla, English actor Leo Suter packed on the muscle. In the Netflix-produced sequel series to the successful Vikings TV saga, a century has passed and a new group of Scandinavian heroes are fighting to rewrite their future. Fighting is key for Suter’s character, Harald Sigurdsson. The prince of Norway runs into several scuffles, which Suter needed to prepare for by bulking up and doing combat training.
Training for the first two seasons of the show wasn’t easy, as the filming coincided with the pandemic. So, with the virtual assistance of Irish celebrity trainer Pat Henry, Suter took to his backyard to prep for his new role. As the show enters its third season, he’s back in the gym, and it’s clearly working.
The Valhalla cast is comprised of some hefty dudes, but Suter does his best not to compare himself. "That’s probably a fools game," he says. Right now, he’s just trying to maintain the physique he’s built since starting this role. He’s ready to bulk up or slim down depending on what comes his way next.
Suter has always been into fitness. He began his journey as a cricket player, where he unfortunately suffered a back injury. That injury, however, sparked his journey in the gym as he worked to strengthen his body again. Once he gained some strength, he switched to playing rugby. Now, he’s an avid tennis player.
We caught up with Suter for one of his full-body workouts at the BXR boxing gym in London. Find his full-body routine, below.
