National Water Safety Month is an annual awareness campaign coordinated by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance with support from the American Red Cross, National Drowning Prevention Alliance, National Recreation and Park Association, and World Waterpark Association.
During the month of May, the West Hollywood Aquatic Center lifeguards will be providing weekly safety demonstrations. Participants will receive a water safety passport and water safety bag upon passport completion. Demonstrations will take place during the first 15 minutes of recreational swimming sessions.
First, visit the Aquatics Center to get your free Water Safety Month Passport.
Next, attend the following safety demonstrations and get your passport checked off: how to properly size a lifejacket, learn to be an effective water watcher, and reach or throw, don’t go.
Then, visit our Instagram @wehorec for the Water Safety Month code word of the month, whisper to a Senior Lifeguard for your passport signature.
Bring your completed passport to the Aquatics Center May 22-28th to pick up your water safety bag!

Recreational Swimming is every Monday-Thursday from 4pm-5pm and Saturday-Sunday 1:15pm-3:30pm.
Demonstrations take place May 6 –21:
-Monday – Thursday 4pm – 4:15pm
-Saturday – Sunday 1:15pm – 1:30pm
-May 22 – 28 from 8am – 7pm

A: The pool is located on the rooftop of the Aquatic and Recreation Center at the West Hollywood Park.
Q: What is the pool temperature?
A: The Recreation Pool is 85 degrees Fahrenheit and the Competition Pool is 81 degrees Fahrenheit.
POOL TEMPERATURES MAY VARY DUE TO WEATHER.
Q: What is the difference between the Recreation Pool and Competition Pool?
A: The Recreation Pool is a 5 lane graduated depth pool, with a depth of 3 feet and increasing to 7 feet.
The Competition Pool is a 10 lane pool, 7 feet in depth in it’s entirety.
Q: What are the pool rules?
A: The pool rules are located on the Aquatics page at weho.org.
Q: What programs are currently being at the Aquatics Center?
A: Private swim lessons, Water Fitness, Lap Swim and Recreational Swim.
Q: Do I need a reservation?
A: Yes, to register visit our Recreation Online page weho.org/recreation and click register here to
create an account and reserve you spot.
Q: When are reservations for Lap Swim available online?
A: Every Monday at 6pm the reservations open for the following week online.
Q: When are reservations for Water Fitness available online?
A: Every Monday at 6pm the reservations open for the following week online.
Q: How do I cancel a reservation?
A: In your user profile, under transaction history, select withdraw from activity.
Q: Do we validate parking?
A: Yes, for the 5-Story parking structure located at the cross streets of Melrose and San Vicente.
Validation will give you 2 hours free parking.
Q: Where can I find more information about your programs?

Q: Will I need to share a lane?
A: Yes.
Q: How many people do you allow per lane?
A :The lane capacity is 6 swimmers per lane. If there are only 2 people per lane, you may split the lane.
If there are 3 or more people per lane, everyone will need to circle swim.
Q: Is the pool open when it rains? A: Yes, however: The Aquatic Center’s inclement weather policy requires we close the facility in the event of lightning, thunder, or heavy raining impeding the view of the bottom of the pool. Otherwise, the facility is open for normal hours and programming. *
West Hollywood Aquatics Center GENERAL RULES & CODE OF CONDUCT
• All patrons must be registered on ActiveNet and have a valid ID before entry into the Aquatic Center.
• All patrons must comply with direction and instruction from aquatic staff.
• Children ages 7 and up are not permitted in the locker room of opposite gender. Use of on-deck family restrooms encouraged.
• Smoking, vaping, and/or alcohol is not allowed at the Aquatic Center.
• Gum, food, and glass is not allowed at the Aquatic Center.
• Fighting of any kind, physical and/or verbal, and use of profanity is not allowed at the Aquatic Center.
• Please walk while at the Aquatic Center. Running is not allowed for safety reasons.
• Climbing or sitting on the lifeguard towers and equipment is not allowed.
• Please store bicycles/scooters outside of the Aquatic Center. Bicycles and scooter are not allowed on deck.
• Loudspeakers are not permitted without approval from Aquatic Staff.
• No animals (even in a small bag or on a leash). Contact the Senior Guard with any questions. Service dogs (non-emotional support) * allowed but must be harnessed on a leash with no access to the general public.
• All lost and found items will be disposed of weekly.
West Hollywood Aquatics Center SWIMMING RULES
• No patrons with infectious diseases, rashes, open sores, or bandages will be permitted to swim
• All oil, grease, and foreign substances must be removed from your body before entering the pool
• Only appropriate, clean swim wear allowed in pool with approval of pool management
• No diving
• No playing or sitting on steps or ladders in the pool
• No rough play, pushing, or dunking
• No artificial swimming flotation devices or foreign play equipment
• No spitting, spouting water, or blowing nose in pool
• No hanging/sitting/pulling on lane lines
• Diving blocks for use only by permitted user groups
• All patrons must have a valid ID to create an Activenet account in order to enroll in programs and use facility.
• The swim test is given for Recreational Swims; upon passing, swimmers will be allowed to swim in the deep end of the pool
• Children under the age of 7 (under 4 feet) must always be accompanied by an adult on a 1:2 ratio, the adult must always be within one arm’s length of both children whether in water and on deck. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied/supervised by parent/guardian.
• No urinating/defecating in pool
• No excessive breath holding

Star Babies and Star Tots (Parent/Child) – Offered from March thru September
Introducing your young one to an aquatic environment as early as possible sets the groundwork for a future of comfortably enjoying water. These classes focus specifically on water acclimation and basic safety for you and your child around water. Classes focus on getting your little one comfortable in a pool setting. Songs and games accompany information about general aquatic safety for your youngster. Instruction on cued entries, kicks, floats, and bubbles will give them a chance to play and feel safe with you and others in the water. For the health and safety of all of our pool users, reusable waterproof diapers are required for children younger than three.

BLAST is a year-round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every swimmer an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at their own personal level of ability from novice to international competitor.
Led by a philosophy that hard work, consistency, dedication and good sportsmanship are requirements for great success, swimmers, coaches and families must work and bond together as a team to achieve the maximum level of success.
